What is my Documents path?

Within a Windows Explorer browser, you will need to enter your Documents path to access the back end.

You can also easily find the path by opening a document from Wise Owl in Microsoft Word.

  • Click on File > Info > Copy Path

  • Paste the path into your Windows/File Explorer and just copy the section up to the status (as per the highlighted path below)

  • Map this copied section of the path as a Network drive (instructions below)

How to map the Documents Back End as a Drive

Once you have established what the correct path is for your Back End (based on your version of Windows), you have the option of mapping this location so that it is listed as a drive.

Why doesn't my login to the Documents in Windows Explorer work?

Windows controls logins to files on Windows Explorer and stores the cookies, history and cache in Internet ExplorerOptions. You may need to clear the recent history in Internet Explorer. cookies which assist with logging in the Documents of Wise Owl.

Clear Cookies & Cache

1. Clear Data via Internet Options

  • Click on Start and type Internet Options.

  • Open Internet Options.

    Click Delete…

  • Select Cookies and the click Delete

  • Image Added

    Close the Internet Options/Properties window.

  • When you now attempt to access your Wise Owl documents you should be asked to enter your Wise Owl username and password, this should only happen the first time you do this, after that point your Windows system should store a new Cookie which avoids the need for you to login every time.

  • If you are not asked to enter your credentials, please restart Windows and then try access the documents.

2. Clear Data via Internet Explorer

Another method of achieving this is via Internet Explorer.

   To clear the recent history, Open Internet Explorer.
