Welcome to the Accounting and Finance Home.

This page will explain some key features that you can access through this module.

Time Billing

The Wise Owl Legal time billing function integrates with Reckon Accounts Desktop. This means that:

  • Time entries will post to Reckon Accounts
  • After billing in Reckon Accounts the entries will update back to Wise Owl Legal to show they are billed
  • Time recording will be compared to budget in graphs under performance (module still to be released)

The time sheet register can be viewed in either units, hours or minutes.

This can be edited by going to settings > my settings. Do not use appliance settings > time billing as this only changes the settings for future users.

The default time units also affects the 'Enter Time Records' screen.

You can find more information on the Time Billing Register page.

Disbursements

This category is for any outlays or disbursements that the firm makes. Disbursements can be made by prefilling a disbursement or by making a new payment.

You can find more information on the Disbursements Register page.

Recoveries

Recoveries are used when charging a client for use of a business provided service or product. This amount, unlike an outlay, can be marked up.
For example, your business may charge a client $1.00 per page of photocopying. This would be charged out as a recovery.

You can find more information on the Recoveries Register page.

Invoicing

Invoicing is the step that will create a bill for the client after you have entered time or fixed fees and any recoveries. There are various statuses of invoices which must be paid close attention.
These are detailed more on the Invoice Register page.
