There are two types of updates that go out to your Wise Owl Legal database.
These are System updates and Resource Pack Updates. Whenever an update goes out, you will receive the messages similiar to the pictures below showing what has been updated.
System Updates
These System updates appear in a green message box along the top of your Wise Owl database.
A System Update requires all Wise Owl users to be logged out of the system and is used to implement new features, product enhancements and bug fixes.
These updates are normally scheduled overnight so as to reduce the impact to your business however they may be installed during the day if a particular feature is important enough for a midday install.
Resource Pack Updates
These Resource Pack Updates are made up of two types of resource packs, Reports and Document Templates.
Each of these will show a blue message box along the top of your Wise Owl database once they are complete.
A Resource Pack update does not require Wise Owl users to log out of their system.
These are downloaded in the background of the program and are normally installed overnight however they can go on to your OWL database at any time without disruppting your use of the program.
Report Resource Pack updates are separated by the category of the reports e.g. Billing, Trust, Matter etc and update any changes that the Wise Owl Technical team have made to the reports into your Wise Owl database.
This is also used to add in new reports that are requested by Wise Owl Users. When your Wise Owl database received a System Update (as above), it will usually receive a Report Pack Update as well to ensure that all reports are kept up to date with the current release.
A Document Template or 'Docpack' Resource update includes changes to any of the Document Templates provided by Wise Owl Legal.
This update includes any new document template packs that have been created as well as updates to existing packs that are already released into your database based on what has been updated in the Courts or other document template providers.
Resource Pack Update Failures
If your Resource Pack does not download correctly or cannot install onto your Wise Owl database, you may receive a red error message box along the top of your Wise Owl database.
This can be due to a hiccup in internet connection or changes you have made to Wise Owl provided templates.
