How to set up a Stakeholder matter / file
Please see this page on how to set up a matter.Â
Creating a Stakeholder matter is an extension from the normal matter creation process. This Stakeholder process should be used where the Lawyer is holding the deposit on a Conveyance until the contract settles.Â
There should be a separate matter set up for the work the law firm does on behalf of their client involved in the conveyance.
Once you have started creating your matter, you will need to use specific information as below.
From the matter creation screen, choose your Firm's contact as the Primary client
Set the Matter Type to 'Stakeholder'
Set the Matter Name in the format of '<Law Firm name> as Trustee for <client last name> and <other side last name> as Stakeholder re <property address>'
e.g. Larry Lawyer as Trustee for Smith and Johnson as Stakeholder re 123 Mary Road, BrisbaneContinue to fill in the rest of the details as normal for a matter and then save.Â
This matter should be used to record the deposit/s on a Conveyance held on behalf of the Seller until the contract settles.
It should only be used for times in which the Law Firm is acting as Trustee for the Stakeholders.
