Description

February 2017 Update - Trust EFT Support and Word Doc Preview

New Features

  • Initial QuickBooks Online integration work. Only available to select clients for testing purposes.

  • Implement MS Word document preview in browser.

  • Add preview document icon to Document Register and Matter Document tab.

  • Updated to current version of "Typeahead" component to improve drop down lists across Wise Owl. Should have less problems clicking and selecting items.

  • Add first class support for Trust EFT Payments. 

    • Has an EFT Advice report (similar to Trust Cheque).

    • Supports payee bank details, bank ref number (both configured via appliance settings).

  • Add support for up to 3 Trust Payment Signatories (configured via appliance settings).

  • When doing Save and New Receipt, the Form of Funds is remembered on the next Receipt.

  • Add floating menu with scroll to top and close all tabs options. Has a per-user setting to default it on or off.

  • Add Related Contact tab on Edit Contact page. Allows arbitrary contacts to be linked together in various relationships.

  • Add per-User setting for default document author, used on New Document From Template page.

  • Document Author field on New Document From Template page is now pinnable.

  • Time Billing data entry page now expands the Notes field when you are editing.

  • Added Firm Contact to firm level mail merge fields.

  • Add a system wide default for Document Register sort field. Defaults to date created.

  • Add support for sending emails to servers which require encryption, and username + password (eg: Gmail, Office365). 

  • When on a calendar / date field, pressing the down arrow now shows the calendar.

  • Date fields now assume a single digit entered is for the current month and year (previously required 2 digits).

  • Allow formatting of custom fields in a tabular layout - to force fields on the same row to align correctly.

  • Allow Security Matrix to be reset, so an alternate matrix can be loaded.

  • Filter Document Template list by Doc Group based on entered Matter on New Document page, so that only templates relevent to the matter selected are shown.

Bugs Fixed

  • Prevent kicking yourself, as this causes a database error.

  • Fix incorrect error message on New Receipt page if type of funds is not required.

  • Fix documents login sometimes asked for an authenticator code.

  • Fix authenticator app configuration errors on User page, depending on if appliance is in Online or Offline mode.

  • Fix a disbursement reverting to unbilled status after confirming and posting to Reckon.

  • Fix data errors with dates when a user's web browser and the Wise Owl server are in different time zones.

  • Fix documents logins via MS Word can be kicked due to inactivity - now correctly expire at midnight.

  • Fix error on Edit Matter page if Client Agreement is signed.

  • Fix uploading a new Document Template will now change the filename and file extension.

  • Fix incorrectly setting the Create field on New Document from Template page when creating documents from the Matter page.

  • Fix large drop downs on dialogs on Document Register were hidden.

  • Fix display glitch for list of Authors on the Edit Document and Upload Documents pages.

  • Fix User Charge Rates page can have errors if no earlier dates listed.

  • Fix problem where emails can have multiple attachments with the same name.

  • Fix Document Register extra columns and exta filters dialogs do not have scroll bars.

  • Fix automatic date formatting does not work on Custom Fields (on Contacts and Matters).

  • Fix Delete Disbursement button was not enabled when all related invoices are also deleted.

  • Fix Trust bank Rec can only edit the most recent bank rec, even if earlier recs have been undone. Now only lets you edit the oldest in-progress rec.

  • Fix error when renaming a document extension (eg: .doc → .docx).

  • Fix errors with duplicate file names for documents due to allowing leading or trailing whitespace (eg: spaces at the end of a file name).

  • Fix incorrectly reporting reports are not used in a report pack import, if there is an error against a report.

  • Fix unable to edit a document copy when copying a readonly (eg: Final status) document.

  • Fix how document names have numbers added to the end of them if there are duplicates. Previously created duplicate documents and errors.

  • Fix errors triggered when loading email attachments / zip file contents if a filename had characters which can cause security problems (eg: < > & #).

  • Add missing Trust Payment line item Ref Number field.

  • Fix clicking the Edit Matter Number or Edit Contact Number button causes the page to be saved, if you click it very quickly when the page is loading.

  • Fix date fields are missing on Google Chrome version 56 (released Feb 2017). This fix was included in Wise Owl 3.2.1,

  • Fix unable to login using Active Directory based account when no maximum password age is set in AD. This fix was included in Wise Owl 3.2.1.

  • Fix Expense Recovery Delete button is enabled when should not be.

  • Fix renaming a document template with only differences in case (upper vs lower case letters) causes an error.

  • Fix bug where change the order of clients on a Matter can cause an error.

  • Fix unable to do a Data Import from a spreadsheet with no data; causes an error and prevents further data to be ignored.

  • Fix bug where incorrectly formatted or blank unique ids on Data Import spreadsheets can cause an error.

  • Fix obscure issue where Wise Owl on en-US computers causes an error on startup.

  • Fix rare error which can cause Reckon Accounts Web Connector to fail at random times.

  • Fix all matters are imported as non-billable in PC Law CSV import.

  • Fix errors when viewing certain MSG email files.

  • Fix no error message shown when importing Timesheet records and specifying a non-timebilling user by initials.

  • Fix potential error when importing users from spreadsheet.

  • Fix attachments were not detatched and saved when appropriate option set on Upload Document page.

  • Fix copying an Account in Finance module also copies the External ID.

Other Changes

  • Automatically clear data in Trust Bank Rec Adjustment dialog when creating a new adjustment.

  • Add a Create Blank Invoice button to the Create Invoice page.

  • Improve layout of Document Edit / View page.

  • Add download URL for Document on Edit / View page.

  • Reduce number of listed invoices on the Receipt Register, so they do not take up as much room.

  • Add hint message in the Related Matters top of the Matter page to search for all matters relating to the primary client.

  • Added a Recovery Record view (previously a read-only Expense Recovery could not be saved, but had editable fields).

  • Add warning and validation messages to Disbursement page if the selected contact is not a Supplier or a Client.

  • Remove unused bulk actions drop down on Time Billing Register.

  • No longer show a warning against Document Pack imports if there are no templates contained in it.

  • Add a notification and button to remove special characters (eg: < > & #) from fields. These fields can cause security problems.

  • Updated to current version of WebDAV component (which allows MS Word to load and save documents in Wise Owl databases).

  • Updated to current version of all 3rd party components.

  • Disable all fields on the Create Document from Template page after the Create Document button is clicked.

  • Rename Trust Receipt Description field to Reason.

  • Add system setting to include Draft records on the New Invoice page by default.

  • List of documents shown on the Matter Documents tab includes all documents when less than 50 documents on the whole matter.

  • Add error message to New Trust Receipt if the matter's primary client has no valid addresses.

  • Improve performance of the Documents Select Template Fields page when loading list of fields - list is now pre-computed and cached.

  • Allocate Documents page now shows documents without matters by default.

  • Added warning message to all register pages when both Matter and Contact are entered, but the Contact is not Primary Client on the Matter.

  • Invoices which are linked to Draft Disbursements are now shown on the Edit Disbursements page.

  • Improve responsiveness of background task scheduler if there is an error.

  • Add system settings to control the number of documents and date range on Allocate Documents page.

  • Warning message about docs without a matter on Documents Register and Allocate Documents page now has a link to show all affected documents.

  • Add warning message on New / Edit Receipt page for Date field if it is in the future.

  • Add validation message to New Document Template if the template file format is not supported.

  • Show users a message if one of their favourited reports is deleted.

  • Improve layout of Trust Bank Rec print function when bank rec is not yet complete.

  • Improve performance when saving Contacts or Matters with large numbers of custom fields.

  • Improve performance when creating documents against Matters with large numbers of custom fields.

  • Improve performance loading Document Register with large numbers of documents.

  • When creating a zip file for documents, add validation to prevent adding documents from different matters.

  • Add additional SSL certificate to internal whitelist when communicating with Wise Owl Legal admin server. This fix was included in Wise Owl 3.2.2.

  • Improve error messages when doing a mail merge.

  • Improve support for Lets Encrypt free SSL certificates.

  • Importing Invoices via spreadsheet no longer requires a ContactNumber field; the Matter Primary Client is used by default.

  • Change default when importing to be Upload a File.

  • Change earliest dates allowed on imported spreadsheets to be 1900 instead of 2010.

  • Show error notification for Document Templates missing from server.

  • Proactive checking in overnight job for missing / orphaned Document Templates.

Reports

  • Added missing Receipt Date field from Trust Receipt report.

  • Add deposit details to Trust Receipt reports.

  • Show correct addresses on Trust Receipt reports.

  • New EFT Advice report.

  • Trust Cheque and EFT Advice have details of nominated Signatory users.

  • Add firm details to Trust Cheque and EFT Advice reports.

  • Add Trust Bank Account details to Invoice reports.
